I'm the odd (wo)man out, here. That's the first thing that'll jump out at you when you read my contributions. I'm not from the area, I'm not really from the state, and my tastes, opinions, and political leanings are far to the left of that of my contemporaries here at Wilkesboro and Beyond (no relation to Bed Bath and Beyond).
Like Jason, my upbringing was less than ideal. It started in the projects of Chicago before we migrated south to the trailer parks of North Carolina, where I lost the only parent I've ever known to cancer. I came to the mountain region in 1999, when I began college at Appalachian State, and never left.
All of this formed me into a very liberal person who relentlessly champions those who are underdogs or under heel.
I'm also a total geek. I have a particular weakness for comic book movies, good beer, and rich, world-building stories. I love sports, football in particular, and dogs. I have an opinion about everything, and I am freer with sharing it than what is probably good for me, considering my opinions are usually not in line with those around me. But I'm going to do it anyway, because what else is the internet for if not to relentlessly voice your unpopular opinions?
